Osiris Lopez Commits to Coastal Carolina
The early National Signing Day was on Wednesday December 3rd and a 3-Star QB is ready to ball at the beach. Fortunately, much of the Chanticleers’ recruiting class remained committed despite the program firing their head coach just before National Signing Day.
Headlining the group is three-star quarterback Osiris Lopez. Lopez is the only quarterback out of the nine recruits who signed a letter of intent.
The Leominster, MA native is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound dual-threat quarterback ranked 11th in the state overall, according to ESPN. In his senior season, he threw 40 touchdown passes to just eight interceptions and led the state of Massachusetts with 2,525 passing yards. Throughout his high school career, he achieved a 56% completion rate and threw for a total of 123 passing touchdowns.
Lopez was also dangerous as a runner, averaging 78 rushing yards per game and finishing the season with 858 yards on the ground.
The Massachusetts product showcased his talent in the Division 1 high school playoffs against the top-ranked team in the state, St. John’s Prep, where he threw for 286 yards and ran for 179 yards, combining for a total of five touchdowns despite a 48-32 loss.
Lopez chose Coastal over Syracuse, Boston College and UConn, even before the Chanticleers named Ryan Beard as the new man in charge of the program. Lopez had faith in athletic director Chance Miller to hire the right coach to lead the team in 2026 and beyond.
