Coastal vs La Tech Independence Bowl Preview
The Chanticleers are headed to a bowl game for the sixth time since joining the FBS in 2017, facing Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl on Dec. 30.
This will be the first meeting between the Chanticleers and Bulldogs.
The Chanticleers are 6-6 entering bowl season, having lost three games in a row, and finished third in the Sun Belt East. The Bulldogs have a 7-5 record, currently on a two-game winning streak, and tied for fourth in Conference USA.
Coastal Carolina has found their new head coach in the previous head man at FBS new-comer, Missouri State. Ryan Beard will take the role in the 2026 season. He will not coach the bowl game however, interim head coach Jeremiah Johnson is set to lead Coastal Carolina. Johnson emphasized the team’s determination and gratitude for the chance to play one more game.

Shreveport will provide a first-class bowl experience, and our team is excited for the chance to compete, prepare the right way, and showcase what Chanticleer football is all about. We’re looking forward to putting our best foot forward and making Teal Nation proud.”
The game will kick off at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. and will air on ESPN.
