Week 15 Men's Basketball Preview: Georgia State
The weeks haven’t been kind to Georgia State recently; the Panthers are owners of a four-game losing streak and are slipping down the conference standings as they approach the postseason.
Team three-point shooting has been an area of inconsistency all season for Georgia State, their 32% shooting from the three-point line has them sitting in the bottom half of NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball.
On a positive note, the free throw shooting has been a major consistency this season as the Panthers are shooting 78% from the charity stripe as a team and sitting at 9th in all Division I for the stat. Jelani Hamilton is leading the way on the team with a free-throw percentage of 90%, putting him at 20th in all of Division I from the free-throw line.
Freshman guard Micah Tucker has been a main attraction for Georgia State, as he has amassed 34-points, five rebounds and seven assists over his last two games. Joah Chappelle will be a player to watch in the paint in these upcoming games, the sophomore forward has accumulated four blocks over his last two games.
Georgia State at James Madison
The Dukes were winners last game out, beating Toledo 73-71 in a game that they almost let slip away in the final few moments.
James Madison sits at 38th in D-I for blocked shots per game with 4.6 and has been able to limit high percentage shots in the paint. Freshman forward Christian Brown has been racking up most of the blocks for JMU with 41, putting him tied at 47th in all Division I despite not starting in a single game this season.
JMU has been having issues holding onto their possessions throughout the season, averaging almost 12 turnovers per game and allowing almost 15 points off those turnovers.
Junior forward Justin McBride leads the way in scoring for James Madison, averaging 16 points and five rebounds per game.
Georgia State is 8-10 against James Madison all-time and is currently riding a six-game losing streak to the Dukes.

Georgia State at Old Dominion
The Monarchs were also winners in their last game, beating Ohio 78-72 in their second game of the SBC/MAC challenge after suffering back-to-back losses.
Old Dominion has been a top rebounding team in the conference, coming in only behind Texas State for the most team rebounds per game at 38.6 and ranks at the top of the Sun Belt for offensive rebounds with 14.3 per game.
ODU has struggled mightily this season with three-point shots in Sun Belt play, averaging only 28% from three as a team and sitting at the bottom of the conference. Defensively, the Monarchs are allowing conference opponents to average 33% from three-point range, the third highest in the SBC.
Senior guard Jordan Battle has been an all-around player so far this season for the Monarchs, the Coastal Carolina transfer has been averaging 14.1 points per game, along with leading the team in total rebounds at 125 and assists with 69.
Old Dominion leads the overall series against Georgia State at 9-15, but the Panthers are riding a four-game win streak heading into this contest.
