The James Madison Dukes win the second game of their series against the Georgia Southern Eagles 3-2 on Saturday night in walk-off fashion.
Georgia Southern was the first team on the board after Mason Gazaway scored on Jack Myers’ single to the right center, giving them the 1-0 edge. After two scoreless innings from both teams, the Eagles added another run to the score after Gazaway scored on a James McCoy hit an RBI single to left field.
Pitcher Ethan Garrett was completely dominating the game, only allowing three hits through five innings, and was responsible for four strikeouts.

James Madison didn’t score for the first five innings of the game, but finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning. They were able to get bases loaded, and Clay Thompson singled through the right side, giving way for Langley and Reece Moody to get to home plate and tie it up at two.

The game remained in a deadlock until the bottom of the ninth when James Madison brought it home. Ryan Gocio hit a single and was replaced by pinch runner Haacke. Jack Anderson assisted in Haacke getting to second base with the sacrifice bunt.
That all set up Kyle Langley, who delivered the final blow.

Georgia Southern had multiple opportunities to blow the game open with bases being loaded on several occasions throughout the game, but ultimately did not come away with a single run on those chances.
That could have been a great opportunity for them to get it over quickly, as they were not able to score for the last five innings of the game.
James Madison takes the second game in this series, and leads it 2-0. This game was certainly different than the last game, with the two teams struggling to get to home plate after a very high-scoring game on Friday.
James Madison by themselves had more runs in the sixth inning of the last game with six runs than these teams combined for in this game with five total.
Georgia Southern had an opportunity to make this a 1-1 series going into the final game on Sunday, but instead will lose the series regardless of the outcome. The series finale kicks off Sunday at 1 pm.
