Louisiana Guard Jaxon Olvera to Enter Transfer Portal
Louisiana star guard Jaxon Olvera plans to enter the transfer portal, per Sam Kayser, becoming one of the most notable Sun Belt players expected to hit the portal so far this offseason.

Olvera spent one season in Lafayette, averaging 13.7 points and 4.5 rebounds, proving to be one of the Cajuns’ most important players throughout the year. He started in 20 games, playing just under 30 minutes per game while serving as a key piece in Louisiana’s rotation.
Olvera scored in double figures in 25 games, including a career-high 29-point performance in the conference tournament against Georgia State. That performance was enough to help the Cajuns win in the first round, but a 28-point, eight-rebound performance against James Madison wasn’t enough in the following round to extend their season.
Before landing in Louisiana, the Houston native spent his freshman season with Pepperdine in the WCC.
In that season, Olvera played in 35 games, averaging 5.9 points per game. While his scoring numbers weren’t as prominent as they were in Louisiana, Olvera did have a huge performance against Gonzaga with 27 points in a close loss. That moment showed the elite scoring ability he would later display during his time in Louisiana.
When the portal opens in April, the 6-foot-5 guard plans to enter the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining. With his size and scoring ability, Olvera is expected to draw interest from plenty of programs once he officially enter
