Georgia State Seeks First Conference Win Against Arkansas State
Georgia State heads back to Atlanta after their this weekend for their first of seven straight home games, hosting Arkansas State in their second conference series of the season. The Panthers have not won a series at home since their season-opening series against the University of New Orleans, which they swept.
Georgia State is coming off their 1,000th win in program history after an 8-2 win against West Georgia on Tuesday.
Despite sitting at the bottom of the Sun Belt in team batting average with a .253, the Panthers sit in the top-5 of all Division I baseball for triples with nine.
Sophomore outfielder John Beverly leads the team in multiple offensive categories among qualified hitters, possessing a .366 batting average and a .410 on-base percentage.
The Georgia State pitching staff has been lackluster to start the season, tossing a team ERA of 5.74 and leading the conference in issued walks with 135. Right-handed pitcher Jake Hembree, the redshirt sophomore leads the staff in ERA with a 3.13 and gotten out 25 batters via the strikeout.

Panthers graduate student Brian Crooms is one strikeout away from registering 70 strikeouts in his college career, spanning across two seasons with Georgia State and one season with East Tennessee State.
Arkansas State heads into this matchup coming off a series win at home 2-1, upsetting #7 Southern Mississippi in Jonesboro. The Red Wolves have not played since Sunday’s series finale against the Golden Eagles; their midweek game against Missouri State was postponed due to inclement weather.
Arkansas State is undefeated in conference play to start the season for the first time since 2019.
The Red Wolves have only been shut out once this season, dropping the second game of their two-game series against #6 Arkansas 1-0. Arkansas State sits in the middle of the conference in offensive production, leading the Sun Belt and positioned at 29th in Division 1 baseball in home runs with 31.

Georgia State leads the all-time series against Arkansas State 14-11, but has lost three straight games to the Red Wolves after being swept out of Jonesboro last season.
