Georgia State Routed In Saturday Matinee Against Red Wolves
Arkansas State scores eleven runs over the final three innings to even the series against Georgia State, thrashing the Panthers 13-5 on Saturday afternoon. Georgia State falls to 1-4 in conference play and 12-12 overall, the Red Wolves notching their first victory in Atlanta since 2023.
Akin to yesterday’s game, Arkansas State struck first with a Raul Torres two-RBI double to left center field in the second inning and tallied his third extra base hit of the season.

The lead wouldn’t last long for the Red Wolves as a Willis Maginnis two-run home run would tie things up in the third inning, Maginnis hitting a homer in his second straight game. The sophomore infielder is now tied for the team lead in home runs so far this season with three.

After a two-run day yesterday, centerfielder John Beverley singled to left field for an RBI in the fifth inning that put the Panthers ahead 3-2. Beverley’s three hits against the Red Wolves increased his batting average to .390, leading the team in that category.
Left-handed pitcher Jake Hembree got the start for Georgia State and would be saddled with a no-decision, allowing two runs off two hits. The redshirt sophomore fanned seven Arkansas State batters, his second-highest strikeout total this season.
Hembree would be replaced by graduate right-hander Brian Crooms to start the fifth inning and would throw 2 1/3 innings, letting up two runs and making the score 6-3 in favor of the Red Wolves.
Austin Killingsworth swatted an RBI single to right field in the bottom of the seventh to keep the Panthers in striking distance of Arkansas State. Killinsworth was starting in just his fourth game this season for Georgia State, batting .250 in his limited playing time.
Arkansas State put up a crooked number in the eighth inning, scoring four of their six runs via walks and HBPs. The inning was capped off by Kaden Amundson’s second sacrifice flyout of the game to give the Red Wolves a firm 12-4 lead.
Austin Sellers cut into the lead in the bottom half of the eighth inning with his first home run of the year, but the deficit would be too much for the Panthers to overcome as they fell to the Red Wolves 13-5 and forced the rubber match on Sunday.
Georgia State will be back in action on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST for the series finale in Atlanta.
