Adam Olsen to Enter Transfer Portal
South Alabama big man Adam Olsen plans on entering the transfer portal after one season in Mobile.
Olsen, a junior, was named second-team all-conference in his only season with the Jaguars. He averaged 16.7 points per game, good for seventh in the conference, while also hauling in 4.1 rebounds per game. Olsen played nearly 36 minutes per night.
The 6-foot-8 big man is a modern type of forward, being able to really stretch the floor. Olsen shot 39.5% on over eight attempts from deep per game. He took 258 of his 393 total shots on the season from beyond the arc, which is nearly 66%.
He quickly became one of the league’s leading scorers, scoring 23 points in the season-opening win over Toledo. He went on to score at least 20 points in 14 more games, including his season-high performance late in the season against ULM. Olsen scored 29 points on 9-for-15 shooting in that game, including making eight threes.
Before arriving at South Alabama, Olsen spent two seasons in his home country of Canada playing college basketball, a place Sun Belt schools are starting to look at in the transfer portal.
As a freshman, he played in 25 games, averaging just over 10 points per contest while shooting just under 38% from deep. His second season at British Columbia saw a breakout from the stretch forward, scoring 15 points per game and leading the team in made threes. Olsen was one of the lead options for the team that went 31-8 and reached the Canada West Championship game and the INDOCHINO U Sports Final Eight.
Olsen will enter the portal as a hot commodity at the power forward position and will be looking for a new home with one year of eligibility remaining.
