Georgia State Gears Up For Weekend Clash With Texas State
Georgia State wraps up their seven game homestand this weekend when Texas State rolls into Atlanta. This series will mark the final time these two teams face off in the regular season as conference foes. The Bobcats are moving to the Pac-12 in all athletics at the conclusion of the season.
The Panthers have struggled against the Bobcats over the last few seasons, losing the last seven matchups dating back to 2022 with five of those seven games being lost by two runs or less. Georgia State’s last win against Texas State came via the sweep during an away series in 2021.
Georgia State has been up and down over their last few matchups, taking two games from a top-30 RPI team in Arkansas State but dropping their last game against SWAC opponent Alabama State.
John Beverley continues to top the offensive charts for the Panthers, riding a seven-game hit streak into the weekend. During this hit streak, the sophomore outfielder is batting .391 with six RBIs but ranks just outside the top-100 in all of Division I. baseball for batting average.
Michael Caruso notched his first career SBC Player of the Week Award after pitching seven and one-third innings across three games from March 17th to 23rd, including a season high four and one-third innings pitched against Arkansas State. Over his three appearances, the transfer only allowed two hits with no runs and picked up seven strikeouts.
Texas State has been on a roll since being swept to open up conference play earlier in the month, sitting at 16-8 overall and coming off a sweep of their own last weekend against the #25-ranked Ragin’ Cajuns.
Senior Rashawn Galloway has been an offensive unit for Texas State this season, clocking in at 80th in all of Division I. baseball with a .394 batting average, the Bobcat catcher has also knocked 16 extra base hit so far this season.
Texas State has had a variety of different faces take the mound so far this season, twenty pitchers making at least one appearance for the Bobcats in 2026. Leading the pack is Jesus Tovar, starting in six games this season with a 5-1 record and is anticipated to make a seventh at some point this weekend. The left-hander boasts a team-best 2.97 ERA and has struck out 29 batters, only allowing two extra base hits.
