Robert Davis Jr to Enter Transfer Portal
Old Dominion guard Robert Davis Jr. has announced that he will be entering the transfer portal.
After being named Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season, early injuries set back Davis’ year. He averaged 9.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in 20 starts this season.
Despite putting up numbers that were not what many expected, Davis still showed flashes of the player many thought he would be, including putting the team on his back in a road victory over Coastal Carolina. The Monarchs took home a 70-66 win behind his 29 points and 5-for-10 shooting from three-point range. He also had 12 games scoring in double figures.
Davis was coming off a career year in 2024-25 and surprisingly returned to Old Dominion, making him the clear favorite for preseason Player of the Year. He played 36 minutes per game, ranking near the top of the conference, and averaged 15.6 points per game in 34 appearances. Davis also hauled in 2.4 rebounds and dished out 1.8 assists during the season. Despite those numbers, he was left off the all-conference teams.
During that season, Davis scored in double figures in 28 of his 34 games. He had a career-high 32-point performance in an overtime victory over ULM, where he hit seven threes.
Before heading to Norfolk, Davis spent one season at UMass under head coach Frank Martin. He appeared in 30 games, playing just under 14 minutes per contest. Davis averaged 4.1 points per game but still had an 18-point performance in a win over West Virginia.
Davis will enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining, giving him the opportunity to look for a new situation and return to the form he showed during his breakout 2024-25 season.
