Camden Cerese Commits to Southern Miss
Saint Leo (DII) transfer Camden Cerese has announced his commitment to Southern Miss, per his social media.
Cerese, a 6-foot-5 guard, appeared in only 10 games in 2025-26 due to injury but still put up strong numbers. In his sophomore season, he averaged 15.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in just over 29 minutes per game. Cerese also shot 41.2% from deep.
Despite only playing in 10 games, Cerese was still able to match his career high in points twice. In his second game of the season against Clark Atlanta, he scored 25 points. Just four games later, he scored 27 against Winona State, shooting 10-for-15 from the field and hitting five threes.
He also spent his freshman season with the Division II program. In 2024-25, Cerese appeared in 28 games, making 11 starts. He averaged 6.7 points per game on over 45% shooting from the field.
On Jan. 18 of that season, Cerese scored a season-high 22 points against No. 8-ranked Florida Southern.
Cerese is from Roselle, Illinois, where he went to Lake Park High School. He is the single-season all-time leading scorer at Lake Park, as well as the second all-time leading scorer in school history. He was named to an all-state team in both his junior and senior seasons.
With several departures so far for the Golden Eagles, both due to exhausted eligibility and the transfer portal, Cerese is one of the first additions via the portal. He will arrive in Hattiesburg with two years of eligibility remaining.
