Jaevian Alston commits to Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina has landed a commitment from Mount Olive transfer Jaevian Alston, per his social media.
Alston, a 6-foot-6 wing, spent his lone collegiate season at Mount Olive. He averaged 13.1 points per game while shooting 48.7% from the field and 36% from 3-point range in 24.4 minutes per game. He also added 6.7 rebounds, one steal and one assist per contest. In conference play, Alston averaged 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds, starting 14 of 17 games.
During the 2025-26 season, Mount Olive faced one Division I opponent in UNC Wilmington. In the 106-77 loss, Alston impressed with 14 points and eight rebounds, shooting 6-for-10 from the field.
In his first college season, Alston set his career high with 21 points against Ferrum, then matched that total in the following game against North Greenville. He also scored 19 points against Barton, getting to the free-throw line 11 times and converting nine.
The Chanticleers beat out several Division I programs for Alston. Western Kentucky, Campbell and UC Riverside were among the programs that showed interest, while Sun Belt foes Georgia Southern and Southern Miss were also in the mix.
Prior to his college career, Alston played in Overtime Elite with Word of God Academy. Georgia State forward Clash Peters also came through Word of God Academy.
Alston becomes the first transfer addition for Coastal Carolina in the 2026 cycle under head coach Justin Gray. He joins incoming freshmen Q Williams IV and Jordan Buzzard in the 2026-27 class.
The Chanticleers have lost several key players to the transfer portal, including AJ Dancler, RaSheed Jones and Braeden MacVicar, but still have multiple contributors expected to return. Derrick Green, DaJohn Craig and Tristan Thompson were all key rotation pieces in 2025-26, while Devin Brown redshirted as a highly touted freshman.
With as many as nine scholarship spots available, Alston is just the first of several additions. He arrives in Conway with three years of eligibility remaining.
