Jaylen Cross Commits to Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina has received a commitment from Wake Forest transfer guard Jaylen Cross, per his Instagram.
Cross, a 6-foot-4 guard from Greensboro, North Carolina, averaged 1.8 points per game as a freshman during the 2025-26 season at Wake Forest. He appeared in 13 games, shooting 8-for-19 from the field and 3-for-5 from 3-point range, while also averaging one rebound per game in limited action.
The North Carolina native saw his most extended run in a home loss to a ranked Vanderbilt team, playing 13 minutes and scoring seven points on 2-of-3 shooting. He also logged six key minutes in an overtime loss to Pittsburgh in January, knocking down his only shot from beyond the arc. Cross did not appear in the final 13 games of the season for the Demon Deacons.
Before arriving at Wake Forest, Cross was a three-star recruit and the No. 10-ranked prospect in North Carolina, according to 247Sports. He was originally committed to Charlotte before reopening his recruitment late in his senior year and signing with Wake Forest. Cross held multiple high-major offers, including Tennessee, Texas A&M, LSU and Mississippi State, along with several mid-major programs such as App State.
Cross adds depth to a Coastal Carolina backcourt that was a clear priority for head coach Justin Gray and his staff this offseason following the departures of Joshua Beadle and AJ Dancler, along with the potential loss of RaSheed Jones. Da’John Craig and Tristan Thompson are expected to return, along with incoming freshman Q Williams IV. He also played on the same AAU team with Williams.
Cross becomes the third transfer addition of the cycle for the Chanticleers, joining Trey Perry and Jaevian Alston. Like those two, he arrives in Conway with three years of eligibility remaining.
