Trey Perry Commits to Coastal Carolina
Miami (OH) transfer Trey Perry has committed to Coastal Carolina, per his Instagram.
Perry, a 6-foot-2 point guard from Liberty Township, Ohio, spent his freshman season at Miami (OH). In his first year of college basketball, Perry averaged 5.2 points per game while shooting just over 52% from the field and 38.3% from 3-point range.
Along with his scoring, Perry averaged 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game, while adding 12 steals on the season.
He began to find his rhythm late in the year, earning more minutes and playing a key role as the RedHawks stayed undefeated through the regular season. In late February on national television, Perry hit a game-winning buzzer-beater to defeat Western Michigan, finishing with 14 points. He followed that up with 21 points in the regular-season finale against Ohio in a rivalry matchup, also on national television.
Perry also showed flashes early in the season, scoring in double figures six times in the first month and a half. He set a career high with 24 points against Milligan in December, while also recording a career-best nine assists in that game. He added a 15-point performance against Arkansas-Pine Bluff as well.
While his transfer recruitment was relatively quiet, Coastal Carolina beat out FIU for Perry’s commitment. Out of high school, Perry held multiple Division I offers, including Illinois State, Akron and Toledo.
Perry provides much-needed help in the backcourt for the Chanticleers after Joshua Beadle exhausted his eligibility and AJ Dancler transferred to USF. RaSheed Jones has also entered the portal, though he has not yet committed and could still return.
Perry joins wing Jaevian Alston as Coastal Carolina’s transfer additions in the 2026 cycle. Like Alston, he arrives in Conway with three years of eligibility remaining.
