CWS Bracketology
Syndicate Sports is getting into the bracketology business, starting with the Road to Omaha.
To determine the field, we used Warren Nolan and averaged the RPI and ELO rankings to establish the overall seeds. Any movement up or down a seed line was made to ensure that two teams of the same conference are not placed in the same regional, in accordance to NCAA rules.
The regions are sorted by the region they would face in the super regionals. For example, the No. 1 seed is paired with the No. 16 seed.
All team records are based on the completion of games on April 19. Teams underlined are the current projected automatic bid from their conference.

- #9 Oregon State (30-8) vs Indiana State (21-19, 8-4)
- Tennessee (26-14, 8-10) vs East Carolina (24-16-1, 9-6)
Fans of Oregon State are waiting patiently for next season, when the Pac-12 returns to action. The Beavers have only three games remaining against teams with a RPI better than 100. Just like their in-state rivals in Raleigh, East Carolina continues to stay in the bubble conversation. The Pirates fell in the weekend finale against Wichita State 13-1.

- Wake Forest (27-14, 9-12) vs Kent State (28-10, 15-6)
A dominating series win over NC State and defeating Coastal Carolina at home helped moved Wake Forest up seven spots on the seed line. Georgia stayed steady, despite a series win over Arkansas where they won the finale 26-14.

- #4 North Carolina (33-7-1, 15-6) vs Rider (22-13, 16-5)
- Oregon (28-11, 12-6) vs Gonzaga (23-14, 12-3)

Gonzaga extend its winning streak to 10 games after sweeping Saint Mary’s in WCC play.
Starkville Regional
- #13 Mississippi State (30-10, 10-8) vs Oral Roberts (23-14, 14-1)
- West Virginia (27-9, 12-6) vs Saint Joseph’s (25-13, 16-2)
After getting swept by Tennessee the previous weekend, Mississippi State defeated Samford and swept South Carolina to stay in the top 16. Saint Joseph’s continue to keep a hold of the Atlantic-10 auto-bid, but dropped a mid-week contest to Rutgers.
Auburn Regional
- #6 Auburn (27-12, 10-8) vs Wright State (17-19, 11-1)
- Jacksonville State (33-8, 16-2) vs NC State (26-14, 9-9)
Auburn took two of three against Florida, moving the Tigers up three spots to No. 6 overall seed. Auburn would be matched up against Jacksonville State, who defeated them 15-4 in a run-rule shortened game. NC State continues to stay on the bubble, being run-ruled twice against Wake Forest last weekend.
Gainesville Regional
- #11 Florida (28-13, 10-8) vs Nevada (21-15, 10-5)
- Liberty (28-11, 13-5) vs Oklahoma State (24-16, 8-10)
Florida plummeted seven spots after dropping a 13-7 mid-week game to Bethune-Cookman before dropping to the final two games of the weekend series against Auburn. A mid-week victory against Oklahoma and taking the series opener against Kansas help put Oklahoma State into the field this week.
Austin Regional
- #3 Texas (30-8, 11-6) vs Bucknell (21-18, 14-6)
- Miami (29-11, 10-8) vs Arizona State (28-13, 11-7)
Texas holds on to the No. 3 seed, while Miami dropped several spots due to a less than stellar series at Stanford. The Hurricanes had to overcome a 3-1 deficit on Saturday and fell 14-6 Sunday to a Cardinal team with an 132 RPI.
Lincoln Regional
- #14 Nebraska (31-9, 15-3) vs Binghamton (21-13, 12-3)
- Southern Miss (28-12, 11-7) vs Wofford (29-11, 8-1)
Taking USC’s place as a host is Nebraska, thanks in part to a dominating sweep of the Trojans. The sweep included two straight run-rule victories. Southern Miss’s sweep of Texas State put the Bobcats on the wrong side of the bubble, while moving the Golden Eagles closer to hosting a regional.
Oxford Regional
- #7 Ole Miss (29-12, 10-8) vs Utah Tech (26-14, 5-1)
- USC (30-11, 13-8) vs UTSA (27-13, 10-5)
Ole Miss saw their eight-game winning streak end on Sunday against Tennessee, but this was before the Rebels won their third-straight SEC weekend series. USC dropped from hosting a regional after dropping four games last week, including a 5-4 loss to a Long Beach State squad that is near the bottom of the Big West.
Tallahassee Regional
- #10 Florida State (28-11, 12-6) vs Bethune-Cookman (29-11, 15-3)
- Arkansas (26-15, 9-9) vs UAB (25-15, 10-5)
UAB and UTSA continue to keep pace with each other for the American auto-bid. The Blazers took two of three from South Florida and even held a lead over Alabama going into the sixth inning before allowing seven runs in the final four innings. Bethune-Cookman’s 6-2 victory over Florida A&M in February currently gives the Wildcats the SWAC tiebreaker.
Atlanta Regional
- #2 Georgia Tech (32-7, 16-5) vs SIU Edwardsville (21-19, 11-4)
- Missouri State (26-11, 14-4) vs TCU (24-15, 10-8)
Despite dropping a weekend series to No. 3 ranked North Carolina, the Yellow Jackets overall RPI has kept them at the No. 2 overall seed. TCU took two of three games against Baylor this past weekend to move them up five spots.
Conway Regional
- #15 Coastal Carolina (28-11, 15-3) vs Lamar (22-18, 14-7)
- Boston College (31-12, 14-7) vs Campbell (25-14, 17-4)
Coastal Carolina’s drop from No. 7 to No. 15 was a combination of teams ahead of them recording strong wins and dropping the weekend finale against Georgia State. A seven-game winning streak, including a sweep of Duke, moved Boston College up 10 spots on the seed line.
Lamar took over the Southland auto-bid after sweeping Northwestern State.
